Sheltered Care Respite Service We know that at the end of our day or shift our staff can go home. But caregivers at home don't have that luxury or opportunity. They're always the one scheduled and always in demand. Some caregivers thrive in that environment and would have it no other way, while others are continually bewildered. For both areas Jennings Terrace Respite Care can make a difference. The respite service at the Terrace can accommodate the needs of most seniors and their caregivers. Jennings can be available hourly, overnight or even for extended stays. You tell us what your needs are and we'll build a schedule that works for you! For most seniors we can provide effective social interactions that cognitively stimulate, emotionally encourage and physically aid, therefore, countering some of the effects of a limited environment.
Respite service is provided on a fee-for-service basis beginning at: Daily fees include all meals and snacks, all activity programs along with exercise and fitness. Other services: Medication assistance Assisted Living It is our intention at Jennings to fill a much needed gap between full independent living and intermediate nursing home care. We are trying to adjust to the needs of area seniors, instead of those seniors having to adapt to available services. The assisted service at Jennings is for traditional ambulatory and non-ambulatory seniors; needing a wheelchair is an acceptable factor when being considered for admission. The assisted living room layout consists of two (2) rooms with an adjoining powder room. One room is furnished with an adjustable bed, chest of drawers, dressing table desk combination with mirror and a bedside table or overbed table. The second room may be furnished with your own furnishings as a sitting room, sewing room or any other functional area that may fit your needs. Assisted living service is provided on a monthly flat-fee basis; excluding only the cost of medications and medically related supplies. Included in Assisted Living:
Skilled and Intermediate Care • Fitness We have a "fitness team" which serves our population at no additional cost. Our goals and programs are individually developed, depending on diagnosis and prognosis. Regaining independence in ambulation would be the focus of a program for a temporary resident who will return to the community following an accident or injury. This resident may progress from propelling a wheel chair to partial weight-bearing with a walker. The final step, of independent ambulation, would mean discharge from the program. For a long term resident, no goal is too small if it helps your loved one promote dignity or independence through regaining a lost skill. Our fitness program consists of stationary restoratores, senior cycle, parallel bars, pullup weights, range of motion wheel, whirlpool, and activities designed to increase fine motor skills. The resident's long and short term goals are reviewed quarterly to maintain ongoing rehabilitative and restorative potential. Physical therapy is also available to Jennings residents on site through contract service providers. A registered physical therapist will evaluate your family member on the request of their attending physician, and will recommend what service will best serve their need. If physical therapy is required, a therapy aide will come to our facility and work with your family member in the modern, fully equipped therapy room. • Nursing The nursing diagnosis is developed from the resident's medical history and information from the physician assessment. Twenty-four hour nursing care is given under the direction of the resident's physician. Nurses maintain contact with the physicians and notify them of any change in the resident's medical condition. Qualified nursing staff dispense medications and employ resident teaching and rehabilitation practices that encourage the resident to continue independence or to regain skills that have been partially lost. Family involvement is encouraged for continuity of care and reinforcement of nursing goals. With physician approval, families and nursing staff cooperate to promote home visits and outings for residents to promote continued interaction outside the facility. • Social Services The Social Service Designee works directly with resident and family, representing them to the staff, interpreting needs, problem areas, plans and goals. Families are expected to supply pertinent family history which aids in the planning of long and short term goals. Social Service identifies and provides interventions regarding the psychosocial needs of your loved one. Psychosocial is the combination of mental and social functioning. With the proper assessment of these needs a resident can begin to receive the appropriate stimuli. Social Service also counsels families or guardians about personal or emotional problems as they relate to resident care, and follows through later by providing continuity of supportive care. • Dietary Our own food service personnel prepare all the meals. Special care is taken to serve flavorful and appetizing foods. All menus are developed according to prescribed medical diets ordered by the physicians. A Registered Dietitian and/or Food Service Supervisor monitor the appropriateness of all food served. They also interview each resident as to their special needs with regards to food preferences. The Dietitian and Food Service Supervisor also monitor each resident's nutritional status using monthly weights, daily intake records and relevant lab data. If deemed necessary, a nutritional supplement may be recommended to assist with adequate oral intake. The results of these assessments are shared at resident's care conferences. Families and friends are invited to have lunch or dinner with their loved one at a minimal cost. • Activities A daily activity program is carried out on an individual and group basis as dictated by the resident care plan. A monthly schedule of events is posted on an activity board for the residents and family members to read. The activity program includes but is not limited to: → Recreational Activities: → Social Activities: → Physical Activities: → Entertainment: → Religious Services: → Intellectual and Educational Activities: Activity progress notes are kept on all residents to help determine the program best suited to their personality and capability. The Jennings Terrace Auxiliary plans special activities for holidays and holds the Annual Bazaar for our residents.
