Greetings Jennings Terrace Volunteers and Friends!

The 52nd year for the Jennings Terrace Auxiliary has begun.

 

+ We mark this new year with a greater effort to reach out to any person, family, community group, or business wishing to aid in the comfort and well being of Jennings Terrace residents. All volunteer efforts are valuable to Jennings Terrace. Enclosed with this mailing is a volunteer questionnaire. Please complete it and return with the envelop provided.

 

A team is working for the Jennings Terrace Auxiliary this year. Many Auxiliary members have agreed to chair several Auxiliary responsibilities. Together with Jennings Terrace Staff, the Jennings Terrace Advisory Council has been formed. The Council will meet quarterly to review special events and entertainment planned by the Jennings Terrace Activities Departments for residents with volunteers providing assistance throughout the year. Also, a comprehensive entertainment listing is being prepared that will allow any group, family or business to financially support or sponsor desired events for residents.

 

 

It is Membership Time !

 

+ The 2010 Auxiliary memberships are now being collected. If you have not paid your dues, please use the enclosed pre-addressed membership envelop. Dues are still only $5 per person. Funds provide financial support to the Jennings Terrace Activities Departments for resident recreation and special events.

 

It's Ice Cream Social time !

 

+ Wednesday, July 21st, from 6 - 8pm., the Jennings Terrace Auxiliary will be hosting the Annual Ice Cream Social for the 52nd year. This yummy, fun, fundraiser is held on the grounds of Jennings Terrace, rain or shine. Homemade cakes, lemonade, coffee, raffles and of course ice cream will be offered. The entertainment this year will be provided by Terry39;s Tunes. Ice Cream Social tickets are $3.50 per person, and raffle tickets are &$1 each or 6 tickets for $5. Raffle tickets have been provided in this mailing to sell or purchase. Payment may be done by using the enclosed envelope or dropping it off at the Jennings Terrace main office.

 

Donations of homemade cakes, and volunteers to work at the event are also needed. Bakery items may be dropped off at Jennings Terrace on July 20th or before 3pm on July 21st.

 

The 52nd Annual Ice Cream Social will be dedicated to the memory of long time, active Jennings Terrace Auxiliary member,
June Lamoreaux, who passed away this past Spring. We celebrate her life and are very grateful for her gracious devotion and dedication to the efforts of the Auxiliary in serving the Jennings Terrace residents.

+ The 2nd Annual Jennings Terrace Car Show, held May 23rd, was another success. Over 50 cars participated. The Jennings Terrace Auxiliary Bake Sale made over $300. Sample Photos - Click Here

 

The 2010 Annual Fall Bazaar and Luncheon

 

+ The 2010 Annual Fall Bazaar and Luncheon does not have a date as of this newsletter. Several people have volunteered to assist with the annual event but many more are needed. If you are interested please, indicate on the volunteer information sheet.

 

A big thank you to…

 

+ The volunteer helpers at the Mother’s Day Tea.

 

+ The volunteer helpers at the Father’s Day Cookout.

 

+ The volunteer helpers at the Activities Garage Sale, and their donations.

 

+ All the bakers for the Car Show Bake Sale.

 

+ And, to the many volunteers over the entire past year who baked, crafted, sold tickets, ran errands, manned and stocked the on site General Store, hosted parties, made favors and gifts, washed dishes, set and decorated tables, sent cards, sewed, planted, watered, sang, danced, held hands, listened to stories and just cared.

 

New volunteer opportunities!

 

Over the years the Jennings Terrace Auxiliary membership has generously donated countless hours of support from fund raising to hosting events and parties or for whatever was needed that would aid current residents. Jennings Terrace has several unique opportunities for volunteer help at this time. If you are interested, please feel free to contact the Jennings Terrace Director of Development, Diane Beukelman at (630)897-6947 ext. 12.

 

+ Sunday Buffet Cashier

   Volunteers greet guests in the Sheltered Care Dining Room and collect payment from visitors, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Sundays.
   Free buffet for volunteers. Volunteers may work in pairs also.

 

+ Annex Hospitality Volunteers
   Visit residents in their rooms mid-afternoons, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM.

 

+ Special Events and Party Volunteers
   Volunteers to help carry out and support planned activities and events for Jennings Terrace residents planned by
   Jennings Terrace Activities Department Directors.

 

+ Sponsorship for entertainment and special events
   Financial support for Jennings Terrace resident programs. May be selected from a comprehensive listing that will be
   made available soon.

+ Just a reminder that the monthly "in house" Jennings Terrace Newsletter printed for residents, family and friends is available online.
   Everyone is welcome to click onto www.jenningsterrace.com to find the monthly newsletters printed in "News" Section. Included each
   month are updates, reminders, requests, acknowledgments, birthdays and a calendar of special events for the month. Copies are
   available at each Jennings Terrace entrance. The current Auxiliary newsletter may also be viewed on the web site.
