Help for Haiti

The Annex Activity Department will be starting a "Penny Jar" for donations to send to Haiti. Those "pesky pennies" that do little more than get in our way, can really add up to those in need. Of course, nickels, dimes and quarters are welcome too!

Memorial Donations

Jennings respectfully thanks all the family and friends who have made recent memorial donations especially those in memory of Esther Johnson.

A Big Thank You To:

Jim Keney from Red Oak Nature Center for the bird watching presentation.

Sandra Armbrust for playing the piano for our residents.

Jim Berkland for putting together an impromptu "jam session" with residents Emery D. playing guitar, Ralph A. on piano and Jim rounded the trio out on the base. Sandra Armbrust joined in on piano as well.

• If there any other Residents, family members or friends that would like to share their musical talents – Jim is ready and willing to pull everyone together for our very own Jennings Band.

Jennings Terrace Auxiliary 2009 Fall Newsletter

Greetings Jennings Auxiliary Members and Friends!

Memberships

We are grateful for the growth in membership during our 50th year with 99 paid members. Currently, we have 74 members and are still collecting 2009 Memberships. Dues are still just $5! What a deal! ...and what a great opportunity to help enrich the lives of the residents of Jennings Terrace! Membership is open to anyone. Funds raised by the Jennings Terrace Auxiliary, including membership dues, provide programs, social events and parties, small favors and gifts for Jennings Terrace residents as well as the purchase of equipment and enhancements that directly benefit the residents.

If you haven't already, please use the enclosed membership envelope for your dues or donations.

Another Successful Ice Cream Social

The 51st Annual Ice Cream Social was held on Wednesday, July 15th on the grounds of Jennings Terrace. Unlike some of the other years, the weather cooperated and everyone was able to enjoy homemade cake and ice cream and entertainment from Terry"s Tunes outside. Over $1,300 was raised from this fun annual event.

Mark your calendars now for the 52nd Annual Auxiliary Ice Cream Social to be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010.

Jennings Terrace Resident Store

Tuesdays, 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM throughout the year Auxiliary members "mind" the small on site "general store" at Jennings Terrace. Many residents look forward to the opportunity to browse the shelves and pick up needed items, small toiletries, snacks, cards etc. Volunteers are always needed. Usually two volunteers operate the store each week, assisting residents with their purchases from the already stocked shelves. If you are interested to help for a shift, please call Jean Meyer, ( 630 ) 801-9866.

Donations and Projects Update

The Jennings Terrace Auxiliary purchased new light fixtures that were recently installed in the Annex Lobby. Additional projects are being considered at this time, but not finalized.
